Student voices: tutoring isn’t scary!

At Tutorfair Foundation, we partner with inspiring charities such as Urban Promise to provide tuition support to students who can benefit from it most.

The reward is hearing from students about the difference it has made in their lives. 15-year-old Alisha* is currently in Year 11 and receives tutoring support in Mathematics. Here’s what she has to say:

How has tutoring helped you?

It helps me with the things I don't understand, and it allows me to further go over the topics we covered during my school lessons. My tutor explains difficult questions and simplifies them for me by being patient during his explanations.

What do you like most about the tutoring sessions?

What I like most is that the sessions cover a wide range of different topics.

What would you like to do after you complete school?

After finishing school, I would like to go to Barking and Dagenham College to study sports.

What is one thing you understand or can do now that you used to struggle with before tutoring?

I can now successfully factorise and expand mathematical equations, which used to be a struggle for me.

What advice would you give to another student who might be nervous about starting tutoring?

I would tell them that it is not scary at all, and that tutoring will really help you correct your mistakes by showing you step-by-step where you went wrong.
