Student voices: I made it, thanks to my tutor

When a student like Mariam* tells us she made it through, the entire team at Tutorfair Foundation cheers with pride.

Mariam and her sisters were referred to us for academic support by our partners, Hestia. Education was very important to the family, but with the adversity they were experiencing, they feared that their daughters’ aspirations may never see the light of day. Our team of volunteer tutors rallied around to offer support to the family. Mariam was helped with her GCSEs and then mentored through the A-Levels so that she could get the grades she needed to pursue law at university.

Her transition into university was as much a win for Tutorfair Foundation as it was for her. Soon, Mariam came back and told us she needed academic support at university. We connected her to the very compassionate and knowledgeable Daniel Watson, who is also a practising lawyer.

Mariam recently completed her exams and here’s what she wrote in to say: “Thank you for putting me with Daniel. I really appreciate you finding a tutor like him for me, I really like how he taught.

I would like for you to email Daniel saying thank you very much because his notes really helped me. I really appreciate the time he has taken to teach me and I’ll let him know when I get my results. I was unable to finish the last question because time ran out so I only had one conclusion left, but that’s fine because as long as I did all three questions, I have done it. I wish him the best and I really thank him for helping me with my tuition. I am finally done with my exams!”

Thank you Mariam for trusting Tutorfair Foundation. We wish you the best at university and in your career.
