More and better support: about our brand new Futures Programme

We’re excited to announce that 2023 will see the Foundation developing a brand new Futures Programme: extending the scope and duration of support we offer to the students who engage well with tutoring.

Following a thorough examination of need amongst our partners and beneficiaries, we’ve introduced mentoring, networking and careers services alongside academic support. Our goal is to pursue long-term, transformational change for our students, helping them to learn and to flourish in the classroom and beyond.

We feel that we’re uniquely well-placed to deliver this programme. Over the past 10 years, we’ve developed both an expertise in working with young people and a wide network of organisations and individuals who hold the keys to extra-curricular experiences and opportunities that more privileged students benefit from as a matter of course.

Our progress so far

We’re underway with our pilot programme, engaging twelve 15-18-year-old students from our existing programmes. They are from a variety of underrepresented and underserved backgrounds and represent a broad range of interests and career ambitions. Alongside their weekly tutoring, they are all now regularly meeting one-to-one with a member of our team to discuss the plans and challenges shaping their future.

Over the next year, we’ll be working to connect them with professionals from their fields of interest, arrange work experience and provide specialist, tailored careers advice for each of them. We’re also introducing them to engaging extra-curricular activities to help them develop and explore their interests and gain cultural capital.

Join the mission

We’re really excited about growing this programme over the coming years. Not only is it born directly out of our values and the needs in our community, it’s also rich with the potential to seed and grow productive long-term partnerships across the private, public and charity sectors.

And we need your help to make it happen. We’re looking for individuals and organisations who want to help us bring exciting education, employment and enrichment opportunities to our learners. Whether you’re an organisation looking to offer work experience, a university looking for outreach opportunities or an individual interested in mentoring a young person interested in your career path - we want to hear from you!
