‘Spotlight on’ our charity partners: The Mentoring Lab

At the Tutorfair Foundation, we work with many wonderful charities in our efforts to get tuition to students who will benefit from it the most. In this series, we’d like to highlight the important work our charity partners are doing with young people—and the ways in which you could get involved!

Spotlight on: The Mentoring Lab

Mission: “To improve equity, social capital, and the social mobility of the young people we serve, with the ultimate mission to end the circle of poverty.”

Website: www.thementoringlab.co.uk

The Mentoring Lab was founded in 2017 to support young people from black and marginalised communities by providing long-term mentoring.  TML works with young people aged 10-25 in the Hackney area of London “from Black, Asian, minority ethnic, refugee or migrant backgrounds, with a parent that has a priority need.”

In their work with vulnerable and marginalised communities, TML aims to offer young people a positive network of support, in which they can explore opportunities available to them and develop the skills they need to take advantage of those opportunities - and so equip them to overcome the systemic barriers they face.

At the Tutorfair Foundation, we have been partnering with The Mentoring Lab to provide one-to-one academic tuition for the young people they work with. In helping young people to succeed at school, and achieve their potential, we hope to support TML’s mission to unlock opportunity and end the cycle of poverty.
