The year of going beyond
It’s time to dive into a new academic year.
At Tutorfair Foundation, we’re ready to support our students with the mentors, tools and technology that they need to learn, grow and thrive. But, before we look ahead, we’re thrilled to share a milestone. We have now supported more than 11,600 students to work towards their academic goals. Last year alone, we delivered more than 1,400 hours of free tutoring as part of our mission to reduce the achievement gap and we’re hoping to go even further in the new academic year.
Sharing her experience of tutoring, Elena* says, “Tutoring has been really helpful and is special because it is much more personalised than lessons … I can go beyond and think about the subject more deeply in a comfortable environment. I’m so glad Tutorfair Foundation has supported me this year. It was valuable and insightful.”
Elena is among the 96% of our students who say that tutoring has improved their understanding of the subject. The best part is that increased confidence in a subject starts improve other aspects of student wellbeing as 3 in 4 students also say that tutoring has improved their overall confidence at school.
So, what’s next?
More Maths Circles, for starters. As you may know, we power the Maths Circles programme for Axiom Maths. Behind these small-group sessions is a whole ecosystem of tech-enabled support; from tutor training and scheduling to liaison, monitoring and evaluation. We’re excited to reach even more students this year, especially when we hear from parents about the difference it makes.
“Rita* really enjoys her maths circle with Mel. It’s been a lifeline for her this year. She has struggled socially at school, so to have a weekly connection with a small group of like-minded, maths-loving peers has been a blessing. Rita completed the UK Junior Maths Challenge for the first time last term and came away saying it was the most fun ever! She achieved a Silver Award and got the highest score in the school.”
Stories like Rita’s are what keep us moving forward. At Tutorfair Foundation, we believe technology and innovation can open up opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. By working with schools, charities and businesses, we’re creating more ways for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to access the education, enrichment and opportunities they deserve.
