The end of summer term - and the summer school begins!

Another academic year draws to a close at Tutorfair Foundation - but school’s not out for the summer just yet! We’re delighted to have been able to offer many of our students the option to continue lessons over a six-week summer school this year.

Summer is a crucial time of rest and relaxation between busy school years; but it’s also an important opportunity to consolidate skills, organise notes, and prepare yourself for the Autumn Term ahead; especially for those students going into Year 11 or Year 13.

While we look ahead to a productive summer of lessons, we’re also very proud to look back on the work our brilliant volunteers and students have done this academic year…

2744 Hours

This academic year, Tutorfair Foundation has delivered a whopping 2744 hours of one-to-one tuition. It goes without saying that this is made possible by the hard work and dedication of our volunteers. Even an hour per week can add up to a pretty amazing number over the academic year when the community pools its efforts, and we’re immensely grateful for the hours our volunteers have put in this year!

191 Students

We’ve worked with 191 wonderful students this year, across tens of different schools. It’s always a pleasure getting to know the young people we work with: their dedication and commitment is a crucial part of the tutoring that we’re able to deliver - as is the help and support of all the parents and guardians involved, who also deserve a huge thank you for the time and effort they put in to making these sessions happen!

147 Tutors

It’s been fantastic to work with 147 tutors this year. We say it all the time, but our volunteers really are the best in the business: dedicated, patient, understanding and knowledgeable. The feedback we receive from students consistently praises the high quality of the tuition and the friendliness of the volunteers delivering it - so thank you all for the time, effort, and good humour you put into these lessons!

Here’s what some of our students had to say…

My tutor was extremely helpful, she explained very well and was very kind when doing so. She also gave me tips to help remember things as well as tips for exams. Her friendliness made the sessions very open and that really helped me learn as I wasn’t afraid to make mistakes or ask for help

[My tutor] has allowed me to work on my skills in Maths, in places where I’ve been lacking which my tutor identified even if I didn’t realise. They helped me understand what to do, and not just remember methods but understand why we do it. It also built up my confidence in Maths a lot and enjoy that hour of tutoring

In the beginning of the year, Chemistry was my worst subject but after a few tutoring sessions I feel like I'm more confident and now I feel more satisfied with where I am - I understand the subject more and find it easier than I did at the end of the year.
