How We're Helping Families Affected by Modern Slavery

Tutorfair Foundation is partnered with the charity Hestia, which works with victims of modern slavery in the UK.

For over a year, we have been providing one-to-one tuition to children who have been referred through this partnership. Primary and secondary age students have received online support in Maths, English and Science from our community of amazing volunteers.

Anna (not her real name) is a mother of three. Her children have received tuition throughout the year, including preparation for GCSEs this summer. This is what she has to say about the support our volunteers have provided:

“It was very stressful for me before the help from Tutorfair Foundation, because my children lacked support and I wasn't able to help them. As a mum, it reduced my stress and anxiety. I was going through such a difficult time, and I got relief from that. And the girls have hugely benefited from it.

The tutors themselves, they are really nice, they are committed to their work, they are always on time, they are always there. Whenever there are any issues, they are raised with the Foundation. They care for their learning.

It brings tears to my eyes, it means a lot to me. It makes me think I am human, that there are people who care about me. Sometimes when I have hard days, one of the things keeps me going, no matter how tough things are, I think: ‘There are people at Tutorfair Foundation who care about you and your children’, and it puts a smile on my face."
